2010 Season Outlook Platt is considered to be a significant addition to the Beach Bums starting rotation. He has the chance to consistently run his fastball up into the low 90s.
Previous Experience Platt pitched collegiately at the University of California - Riverside, and was a 27th round selection of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2009 MLB Draft. After just two appearances in rookie ball, Platt was promoted the short season class-A Helena Brewers of the Pioneer League. For the Brewers, Platt appeared in 13 games, logging 21.1 innings, and allowed just 14 hits while walking 13 and striking out 30. Opponents only hit .182 against the hard-throwing righty, the fourth lowest mark in the Pioneer League. As a senior at Riverside, Platt had a perfect 4-0 record and 4.15 ERA in 65 innings, allowing just 61 hits and 22 walks while striking out 67 hitters.
