2010 SEASON OUTLOOK
Franco came in to provide depth last summer and ended up being one of the top hitters in the lineup for Traverse City. He can hit the ball with authority to all fields, and always puts together quality at-bats. Defensively, he struggled with some arm issues last summer, but will come into camp healthy and hope to contribute a little more at catcher and left field this year in addition to DH, where he got most of his starts in 2009.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Franco opened the 2009 campaign with the Sioux City Explorers in the American Association. He had 15 at-bats in nine games. The Destin, Fla. native signed with Beach Bums on July 16, 2009 and sparkled in his Beach Bums debut three days later. He went 3-for-3 with double, homerun and two RBI in a 4-3 victory over Windy City Thunderbolts. Franco hit .347 in 32 games overall for the Beach Bums, with 13 multi-hit gams. He connected on four homeruns and had 22 RBI. He slugged .488, second-best on team.
COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
Franco played two seasons at Appalachian State University. His best season was in 2007, when he batted .387 with eight homeruns and 63 RBI, all team highs. Franco tied for second-most on the Mountaineers with 82 hits.
